Pantry
Not RecommendedNot recommended
Cream must be refrigerated to maintain safety and quality.
Refrigerator
1 week
Keep cream refrigerated at 40°F (4°C) or below. Store in its original, tightly sealed carton in the coldest part of the refrigerator. Do not store in the refrigerator door, as temperatures fluctuate there.
Freezer
1-2 months for best quality, safe indefinitely
While safe indefinitely, freezing cream may alter its texture, causing it to become grainy or separate. For best quality, freeze in airtight containers, leaving headspace for expansion. Thaw in the refrigerator and stir well before use.
Signs of Spoilage
- Sour or off odor
- Lumpy or curdled texture
- Mold growth
- Discoloration
Room Temperature Safety
The 'Danger Zone' for bacterial growth is between 40°F (4°C) and 140°F (60°C). Cream should not remain in this temperature range for extended periods.
Always refrigerate cream promptly after purchase and after each use. Discard any cream that has been left out within the danger zone for longer than the recommended time limits.
Safe Handling
Always keep cream refrigerated at or below 40°F (4°C).
Do not leave cream at room temperature for more than 2 hours (1 hour if the temperature is above 90°F/32°C).
Avoid cross-contamination by ensuring the carton spout does not touch other foods or surfaces.
Discard cream if it has been left unrefrigerated for too long.
