Fresh aloe vera gel is highly perishable and should not be stored at room temperature for more than 2 hours. Store only for immediate use.
Refrigerator
3-5 days
Store fresh aloe vera gel in a clean, airtight container in the refrigerator to prevent contamination and maintain freshness. Keep away from strong-smelling foods.
Freezer
8-12 months
Freeze fresh aloe vera gel in ice cube trays for convenient portioning. Once frozen solid, transfer the cubes to heavy-duty freezer bags or airtight containers. Label with the date.
Signs of Spoilage
- Discoloration (e.g., yellowing or browning)
- Off-odor (e.g., sour, fermented, or unpleasant smell)
- Mold growth
- Slimy or unusually watery texture
Room Temperature Safety
40°F–140°F
Perishable foods, including fresh aloe vera gel, should not be left at room temperature (between 40°F and 140°F) for more than 2 hours. If the ambient temperature is above 90°F (32°C), discard after 1 hour.
Safe Handling
Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water before and after handling fresh aloe vera gel.
Use clean utensils and containers when extracting and storing the gel.
Prevent cross-contamination by keeping fresh aloe vera gel separate from raw meats, poultry, and seafood.
Discard any gel that has been left at room temperature for more than 2 hours (or 1 hour if above 90°F/32°C).
