Pantry

9 months to 1 year (unopened, shelf-stable)

Store unopened, shelf-stable apple juice in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight and heat. Once opened, refrigerate promptly.

Refrigerator

7-10 days (opened)

Keep opened apple juice tightly sealed in its original container or an airtight pitcher. Do not drink directly from the container to prevent contamination.

Freezer

8-12 months (for best quality, safe indefinitely)

Freeze apple juice in airtight containers, leaving headspace for expansion (about 1 inch from the top). Can be frozen in ice cube trays for smaller portions. Thaw in the refrigerator.

Signs of Spoilage

  • Off-odor (sour, fermented)
  • Cloudy appearance or unusual discoloration
  • Fizzy or carbonated texture (sign of fermentation)
  • Mold growth
  • Bulging container (for unopened juice, indicates spoilage)

Room Temperature Safety

2-hour rule (1 hour above 90°F/32°C)

40°F–140°F

Opened apple juice should not be left at room temperature for more than 2 hours. If the ambient temperature is above 90°F (32°C), it should not be left out for more than 1 hour. Discard any juice left out longer than these times.
