Store in the refrigerator immediately after cutting to maintain safety and quality.
Refrigerator

Store cut apple slices in an airtight container. To prevent browning, toss with a small amount of lemon juice or a commercial anti-browning product before refrigerating.
Freezer
8-12 months
For best quality, blanch or treat apple slices with an ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) solution to prevent browning. Freeze in a single layer on a baking sheet until solid, then transfer to freezer bags or airtight containers.
Signs of Spoilage
- Excessive browning or dark discoloration beyond normal oxidation
- Mushy or slimy texture
- Off-odor or sour smell
- Visible mold growth
Room Temperature Safety
40°F–140°F (4°C–60°C)
Cut apple slices should not be left at room temperature for more than 2 hours. If the temperature is above 90°F (32°C), they should not be left out for more than 1 hour. Discard if left out longer.
Safe Handling
Wash whole apples thoroughly under running water before cutting.
Use clean cutting boards, utensils, and hands to prevent cross-contamination.
Refrigerate cut apple slices promptly within 2 hours of preparation.
Discard any cut apple slices left at room temperature for more than 2 hours (or 1 hour if the temperature is above 90°F/32°C).
