Pantry

Not Recommended

Not recommended

Once opened, canned apricots should not be stored in the pantry. Transfer to an airtight container and refrigerate immediately.

Refrigerator

3-4 days

Transfer opened canned apricots and their liquid to a clean, airtight glass or plastic container. Do not store in the opened can.

Freezer

10-12 months

For best quality, transfer apricots and their liquid to a freezer-safe container or heavy-duty freezer bag. Leave headspace for expansion. While safe indefinitely, quality may decline after 10-12 months.

Signs of Spoilage

  • Off-odor (sour or fermented smell)
  • Mold or fuzzy growth on the surface
  • Unusual discoloration
  • Slimy texture

Room Temperature Safety

2-hour rule (1 hour if ambient temperature is above 90°F/32°C)

40°F–140°F (4°C–60°C)

Do not leave opened canned apricots at room temperature for more than 2 hours. If left out longer, discard them to prevent bacterial growth.
