Store unopened formula in a cool, dry indoor area, not in direct sunlight or extreme temperatures. Once opened, powder formula should be stored in a tightly covered container in a cool, dry place, not in the refrigerator. Prepared formula should not be stored at room temperature for extended periods.
Refrigerator
Prepared formula: 24 hours; Opened ready-to-feed liquid formula: 48 hours; Opened liquid concentrate (unmixed): 48 hours
Prepared formula should be refrigerated immediately after preparation and used within 24 hours. Opened ready-to-feed liquid formula and opened liquid concentrate (unmixed) should be covered, refrigerated immediately, and used within 48 hours.
Freezer

Freezing prepared infant formula is not recommended as it can cause separation of ingredients and may affect the nutritional quality and consistency.
Signs of Spoilage
- Sour or off odor
- Curdled or lumpy appearance
- Unusual color
- Mold growth
- Bulging or leaking packaging (for unopened liquid formula)
Room Temperature Safety

Never leave prepared infant formula at room temperature for more than 2 hours. Discard any formula left in the bottle after feeding to prevent bacterial growth.
Safe Handling
Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water before preparing formula.
Sterilize bottles, nipples, and rings before first use and regularly thereafter.
Use safe water for mixing powder formula (e.g., boiled and cooled tap water, or purified water).
Prepare formula just before feeding, if possible.
Discard any formula left in the bottle after a feeding.
Do not microwave formula, as it can create hot spots and burn a baby's mouth.
