Store unwashed green chillies in a plastic bag or airtight container in the crisper drawer of the refrigerator.

Freezer

8-12 months for best quality

Wash, dry, stem, and chop or leave whole. Freeze in a single layer on a baking sheet, then transfer to freezer bags or airtight containers. No blanching required.

Signs of Spoilage

  • Soft spots or mushy texture
  • Mold growth (fuzzy white, green, or black spots)
  • Discoloration (darkening or unusual spots)
  • Slimy or sticky surface
  • Off-odor

Room Temperature Safety

Perishable food should not be left out at room temperature for more than 2 hours. If the ambient temperature is above 90°F (32°C), food should not be left out for more than 1 hour.

The 'Danger Zone' for bacterial growth is between 40°F (4°C) and 140°F (60°C).
