Cooked beans should not be stored at pantry temperatures. Dried beans can be stored indefinitely in a cool, dry, dark place. Unopened canned beans can be stored for 2-5 years in the pantry.
Refrigerator
3-4 days
Store cooked beans in shallow, airtight containers. Refrigerate promptly after cooking.
Freezer
6-8 months
Freeze cooked beans in airtight freezer-safe containers or heavy-duty freezer bags. Label with the date.

- Slimy texture
- Mold growth
- Discoloration
Room Temperature Safety

Bacteria multiply rapidly in the danger zone. Always refrigerate or freeze cooked beans promptly to prevent bacterial growth.
Safe Handling
Cool cooked beans rapidly before refrigerating or freezing, dividing into small portions if necessary.
Do not leave cooked beans at room temperature for more than 2 hours (1 hour if the ambient temperature is above 90°F/32°C).
Reheat cooked beans thoroughly to an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
Avoid cross-contamination by using clean utensils and containers for cooked beans.
