Cooked beans should not be stored at pantry temperatures. Dried beans can be stored indefinitely in a cool, dry, dark place. Unopened canned beans can be stored for 2-5 years in the pantry.

Store cooked beans in shallow, airtight containers. Refrigerate promptly after cooking.

Freezer

6-8 months

Freeze cooked beans in airtight freezer-safe containers or heavy-duty freezer bags. Label with the date.

Room Temperature Safety

The 2-hour rule applies: Perishable foods, including cooked beans, should not be left at room temperature for more than 2 hours. If the ambient temperature is above 90°F (32°C), this time limit reduces to 1 hour.
