Hot dogs are perishable and require refrigeration. Do not store at room temperature.

Refrigerator

Unopened package: 2 weeks; Opened package: 3-5 days; Cooked: 3-4 days

Store hot dogs in their original packaging or in a tightly sealed container. Keep at 40°F (4°C) or below. Once opened, consume within 3-5 days.

Freezer

1-2 months

For best quality, freeze hot dogs in their original packaging or in airtight freezer bags. While safe indefinitely, quality may decline after 1-2 months.

Signs of Spoilage

  • Sour or off-odor
  • Slimy texture
  • Discoloration (e.g., grayish or greenish tinge)
  • Mold growth

Room Temperature Safety

Perishable foods should not be left at room temperature for more than 2 hours. If the ambient temperature is above 90°F (32°C), the limit is 1 hour.

The 'Danger Zone' for bacterial growth is between 40°F (4°C) and 140°F (60°C).

Hot dogs should be refrigerated promptly. Discard any hot dogs left in the danger zone for longer than the recommended time limits.
