For optimal safety and quality, fresh blueberries should be refrigerated immediately. Extended storage at room temperature is not advised.

Store unwashed in their original container or a breathable container in the refrigerator. Wash gently just before eating.

Freezer

Wash and dry blueberries thoroughly. Spread them in a single layer on a baking sheet and freeze until solid. Transfer to freezer bags or airtight containers for long-term storage.

Signs of Spoilage

  • Presence of mold (fuzzy white or gray spots)
  • Mushy or excessively soft texture
  • Sour, fermented, or off-odor
  • Significant discoloration or darkening

Room Temperature Safety

Perishable foods, including fresh blueberries, should not be left at room temperature for more than 2 hours. If the ambient temperature is above 90°F (32°C), the limit is 1 hour.
