Room Temperature Safety
40°F–140°F
Perishable foods, including boiled eggs, should not be left at room temperature for more than 2 hours. If the ambient temperature is above 90°F (32°C), the limit is reduced to 1 hour. Discard any boiled eggs left out longer than these times.
Safe Handling
Always wash hands with soap and water before and after handling eggs.
Cook eggs thoroughly to an internal temperature of 160°F (71.1°C) if preparing dishes like casseroles or quiches, though boiled eggs are cooked until firm.
Cool boiled eggs quickly under cold running water or in an ice bath to stop the cooking process and prevent a greenish ring around the yolk.
Refrigerate boiled eggs within 2 hours of cooking.
Avoid cross-contamination by keeping raw foods separate from cooked foods.
