Bologna is a perishable product and requires refrigeration. Do not store at room temperature.
Refrigerator
2 weeks (unopened)
Store unopened bologna chub in its original packaging in the refrigerator. Once opened, tightly wrap the remaining bologna and use within 3 to 5 days. Keep refrigerator temperature at 40°F (4°C) or below.
Freezer
1 to 2 months
For best quality, freeze bologna in its original unopened package or rewrap tightly in heavy-duty foil or freezer wrap, or place in a heavy-duty freezer bag. Thaw in the refrigerator.
Signs of Spoilage
- Sour or off-odor
- Slimy or sticky texture
- Discoloration (e.g., greenish or grayish spots)
- Presence of mold
Room Temperature Safety
The 'Danger Zone' for bacterial growth is between 40°F (4°C) and 140°F (60°C).
Always refrigerate bologna promptly. Discard any bologna left in the danger zone for longer than the recommended time limits.
Safe Handling
Keep bologna refrigerated at 40°F (4°C) or below.
Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water before and after handling raw or cooked meats.
Prevent cross-contamination by keeping bologna separate from other foods, especially raw meats, poultry, and seafood.
