Room Temperature Safety
The 'Danger Zone' for bacterial growth is between 40°F (4°C) and 140°F (60°C). Perishable foods should not remain in this temperature range for extended periods.
To maintain safety and quality, raw broccoli should be refrigerated promptly after purchase and kept out of the temperature danger zone.
Safe Handling
Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water before and after handling fresh produce.
Wash broccoli under cool running tap water just before eating or cooking. Do not use soap or detergents.
Remove any damaged or discolored parts before preparing.
Keep raw broccoli separate from raw meat, poultry, seafood, and eggs to prevent cross-contamination.
Cooked broccoli should be refrigerated within 2 hours.
