Caesar DressingShelf Life, Storage, and Spoilage Guide
Pantry
Not RecommendedNot recommended
Once opened, Caesar dressing must be refrigerated. Unopened commercially bottled Caesar dressing can be stored in a cool, dark pantry for 1-2 months past its printed date, but always check the label.
Refrigerator
1-2 months
Keep commercially bottled Caesar dressing tightly sealed in the refrigerator after opening. Homemade Caesar dressing, due to raw egg content, should be used within 1 week.
Freezer
Not RecommendedNot recommended
Freezing is not recommended for Caesar dressing as it contains ingredients like eggs and dairy that can separate, altering the texture and flavor upon thawing.
Signs of Spoilage
- Off-odor (sour, rancid, or unusual smell)
- Visible mold growth
- Significant discoloration or darkening
- Unusual separation or curdling that doesn't mix back in
- Fizzy appearance or bubbling
Room Temperature Safety
The 'Danger Zone' for bacterial growth is between 40°F (4°C) and 140°F (60°C).
Refrigerate Caesar dressing promptly after use. Discard any dressing that has been exposed to temperatures within the danger zone for longer than the recommended time limits.
Safe Handling
Always use clean utensils to dispense dressing to prevent cross-contamination.
Do not consume dressing directly from the bottle.
Discard any dressing that has been left at room temperature for more than 2 hours (or 1 hour if the temperature is above 90°F/32°C).
