Pantry

2-5 years (unopened)

Store unopened cans in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. For best quality, consume within 2-5 years.

Refrigerator

3-4 days (opened)

Once opened, transfer unused canned corn to a clean, airtight container before refrigerating. Do not store in the original can.

Freezer

10-12 months (opened, transferred)

For opened canned corn, transfer to a freezer-safe container or heavy-duty freezer bag. Label with the date and freeze at 0°F (-18°C) or below for best quality.

Signs of Spoilage

  • For unopened cans: bulging, leaking, deep dents, rust, or a foul odor upon opening.
  • For opened/refrigerated corn: sour or off-odor, mold growth, slimy texture, or discoloration.

Room Temperature Safety

2-hour rule (1 hour above 90°F/32°C)

40°F–140°F

Do not leave opened canned corn at room temperature for more than 2 hours. If the ambient temperature is above 90°F (32°C), discard after 1 hour.
