Pantry
Best quality 2-5 years, indefinitely safe if can is intact and stored properly
Store unopened cans in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Do not store above 75°F (24°C).
Refrigerator
3-4 days (once opened)
Once opened, transfer corn to a clean, airtight container. Do not store in the original can.
Freezer
10-12 months (once opened and transferred)
Transfer opened canned corn to a freezer-safe bag or container, leaving headspace. Label with the date.
Signs of Spoilage
- Off-odor (sour, putrid)
- Mold growth
- Discoloration
- Slimy or mushy texture
- Bulging, leaking, or severely dented cans (for unopened product)
Room Temperature Safety
40°F–140°F
Opened canned corn, like other perishable foods, should not be left at room temperature (between 40°F and 140°F) for more than 2 hours. If the ambient temperature is above 90°F (32°C), it should not be left out for more than 1 hour.
Safe Handling
Before opening, check cans for dents, bulges, leaks, or rust. Discard any damaged cans.
Once opened, do not store food in the original can. Transfer contents to a clean, food-grade storage container.
Refrigerate opened canned corn promptly within 2 hours of opening.
