Pantry

12-18 months (unopened)

Store unopened cans in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Do not store above 75°F (24°C). Once opened, do not store at room temperature; refrigerate promptly.

Refrigerator

3-4 days

Transfer opened mandarin oranges and their liquid to a clean, airtight, non-metallic container. Refrigerate promptly at 40°F (4°C) or below.

Freezer

1-2 months (for best quality)

While safe indefinitely when frozen at 0°F (-18°C), quality may degrade after 1-2 months. Transfer to a freezer-safe airtight container.

Signs of Spoilage

  • Off-odor or sour smell
  • Mold growth
  • Discoloration
  • Fizzy appearance or taste
  • Bulging, leaking, or severely dented cans (for unopened product)

Room Temperature Safety

The 2-hour rule: Perishable foods should not be left at room temperature for more than 2 hours. If the ambient temperature is above 90°F (32°C), the limit is 1 hour.

The 'Danger Zone' for bacterial growth is between 40°F (4°C) and 140°F (60°C).

Promptly refrigerate opened canned mandarin oranges. Never leave them in the danger zone for extended periods.
