Once opened, canned mushrooms must be refrigerated immediately. Do not store in the pantry.
Refrigerator
3-4 days
Transfer opened canned mushrooms to a clean, airtight container (glass or plastic) before refrigerating. Do not store in the original can.
Freezer
1-2 months
For best quality, drain liquid and transfer mushrooms to a freezer-safe bag or airtight container. Label with the date.
Signs of Spoilage
- Off-odor (sour, putrid)
- Slimy or sticky texture
- Visible mold growth
- Significant discoloration
Room Temperature Safety
40°F–140°F (4°C–60°C)
Perishable foods, including opened canned mushrooms, should not be left at room temperature for more than 2 hours. If the temperature is above 90°F (32°C), discard after 1 hour.
Safe Handling
Always refrigerate opened canned mushrooms promptly within 2 hours.
Never store opened canned food in the original can in the refrigerator; transfer to a clean, airtight container.
Practice good hygiene: wash hands, utensils, and surfaces before and after handling food.
