Room Temperature Safety
The 'Danger Zone' for rapid bacterial growth is between 40°F (4°C) and 140°F (60°C).
Always refrigerate opened canned sausage gravy promptly. If left out within the danger zone for too long, harmful bacteria can multiply rapidly, even if there are no visible signs of spoilage.
Safe Handling
Always refrigerate opened canned sausage gravy within 2 hours (1 hour if above 90°F/32°C).
Reheat thoroughly to an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) before serving.
Do not consume from a can that is bulging, leaking, or severely dented, as this can indicate botulism.
Use clean utensils and surfaces to prevent cross-contamination.
