Pantry

12-18 months (unopened)

Store unopened cans in a cool, dry place. Do not store opened cans in the pantry.

Refrigerator

5-7 days (opened)

Once opened, transfer peaches to a clean, non-metal, airtight container and refrigerate promptly. Do not store in the opened can.

Freezer

1-2 months (opened, for best quality)

For opened peaches, transfer to a freezer-safe container or bag. While safe indefinitely, quality may decline after 1-2 months. Freezing in the can is not recommended.

Signs of Spoilage

  • Off-odor (sour, fermented, or unusual smell)
  • Mold growth
  • Discoloration (darkening or unusual color changes)
  • Slimy or mushy texture
  • Bulging, leaking, or severely dented cans (for unopened cans, indicates potential botulism)

Room Temperature Safety

Perishable foods, including opened canned peaches, should not be left at room temperature for more than 2 hours. If the ambient temperature is above 90°F (32°C), the limit is 1 hour.

The 'Danger Zone' for food is between 40°F (4°C) and 140°F (60°C), where bacteria can multiply rapidly.

Always refrigerate opened canned peaches promptly. Never leave them out on the counter for extended periods.
