Cooked chicken dishes should not be stored at room temperature for extended periods due to rapid bacterial growth.
Refrigerator
3-4 days
Refrigerate promptly in shallow, covered containers to allow for quick cooling. Ensure refrigerator temperature is maintained at 40°F (4°C) or below.
Freezer
2-6 months
For best quality, freeze in airtight containers or heavy-duty freezer bags. Label with the date. While safe indefinitely, quality may decline after 2-6 months.
Signs of Spoilage
- Off-odor (sour, putrid)
- Slimy or sticky texture
- Visible mold growth
- Discoloration
Room Temperature Safety
40°F–140°F (4°C–60°C)
Perishable foods, including chicken bake, should not be left at room temperature for more than 2 hours. If the ambient temperature is above 90°F (32°C), discard after 1 hour, as bacteria multiply rapidly in the danger zone.
Safe Handling
Reheat all leftovers, including chicken bake, to an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) as measured with a food thermometer.
Do not leave cooked chicken bake at room temperature for more than 2 hours. If the ambient temperature is above 90°F (32°C), discard after 1 hour.
Prevent cross-contamination by using separate cutting boards and utensils for raw ingredients and cooked foods.
