Pantry
Not RecommendedUnsafe
Raw chicken burger patties should never be stored at room temperature due to rapid bacterial growth.
Refrigerator
1-2 days
Store raw chicken burger patties in their original packaging or in a sealed container on the lowest shelf of the refrigerator to prevent juices from dripping onto other foods. Ensure refrigerator temperature is 40°F (4°C) or below.
Freezer
3-4 months
For best quality, freeze raw chicken burger patties in airtight packaging or heavy-duty freezer bags to prevent freezer burn. Thaw safely in the refrigerator, cold water, or microwave immediately before cooking.
Signs of Spoilage
- Sour or off-odor
- Slimy or sticky texture
- Discoloration (e.g., greenish or grayish tint)
- Mold growth
Room Temperature Safety
40°F–140°F (4°C–60°C)
Do not leave raw chicken burger patties at room temperature for more than 2 hours. If the ambient temperature is above 90°F (32°C), do not leave out for more than 1 hour. Discard any patties left out longer than these times.
Safe Handling
Cook raw chicken burger patties to a safe minimum internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) as measured with a food thermometer.
Always wash hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds before and after handling raw chicken.
Use separate cutting boards, plates, and utensils for raw chicken and ready-to-eat foods to prevent cross-contamination.
Never wash raw chicken, as this can spread bacteria to other foods and surfaces.
Thaw frozen chicken burger patties in the refrigerator, in cold water (changing water every 30 minutes), or in the microwave. Cook immediately after thawing in cold water or microwave.
