Expert Tips

Safe Handling

1

Always transfer opened canned goods to a separate clean, airtight container for refrigeration; never store in the original can.

2

Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water before and after handling food.

3

Avoid cross-contamination by using separate cutting boards and utensils for raw meats and produce, even though chickpeas are cooked.

4

If incorporating into a hot dish, ensure the dish reaches a safe internal temperature if other ingredients require it.
