Pantry

Unopened: Best by date; Opened: 1 month

Store unopened jars in a cool, dark pantry. Once opened, if not refrigerated, consume within 1 month.

Refrigerator

1 month

After opening, keep tightly sealed in the original jar or transfer to an airtight container. Store in the refrigerator.

Freezer

Not recommended for quality

While safe indefinitely, freezing is not recommended as it can significantly alter the texture and quality of the cherries. If freezing, transfer to a freezer-safe container, ensuring cherries are covered by syrup.

Signs of Spoilage

  • Mold growth
  • Off-odor (sour or fermented smell)
  • Unusual discoloration
  • Sliminess
  • Bubbling in the syrup

Room Temperature Safety

The 2-hour rule applies to perishable foods. Once opened and removed from refrigeration, cocktail cherries should not be left at room temperature for more than 2 hours.

40°F–140°F (4.4°C–60°C)

Discard any opened cocktail cherries that have been left in the danger zone for more than 2 hours. If the ambient temperature is above 90°F (32°C), discard after 1 hour.
