Cooked apples should not be stored at room temperature for extended periods due to rapid bacterial growth. Refrigerate promptly.
Refrigerator
3-4 days
Store cooked apples in a shallow, airtight container to ensure rapid cooling and prevent contamination. Place in the coldest part of the refrigerator.
Freezer
10-12 months
Freeze cooked apples in airtight freezer-safe containers or heavy-duty freezer bags. Label with the date of freezing for best quality.
Signs of Spoilage
- Mold growth
- Sour or off-odor
- Unusual discoloration
- Slimy or mushy texture
Room Temperature Safety
40°F–140°F (4°C–60°C)
Cooked apples should not be left at room temperature for more than 2 hours. Discard any cooked apples left out longer than this timeframe, or 1 hour if the ambient temperature is above 90°F (32°C).
Safe Handling
Refrigerate cooked apples within 2 hours of cooking. If the temperature is above 90°F (32°C), refrigerate within 1 hour.
Reheat cooked apples to an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) if serving warm.
Avoid cross-contamination by using clean utensils and containers for cooked food.
