Pantry

Not Recommended

Not recommended

Cooked curry should be refrigerated promptly to prevent bacterial growth. Do not store at room temperature for extended periods.

Refrigerator

3-4 days

Store cooked curry in shallow, airtight containers to cool quickly and prevent contamination. Refrigerate within 2 hours of cooking.

Freezer

2-6 months

Freeze cooked curry in airtight freezer-safe containers or heavy-duty freezer bags. For best quality, consume within 2-3 months. Thaw in the refrigerator, not at room temperature.

Signs of Spoilage

  • Sour or off odors
  • Visible mold growth
  • Unusual discoloration
  • Slimy or sticky texture

Room Temperature Safety

The 2-hour rule: Do not leave perishable foods, including cooked curry, at room temperature for more than 2 hours. If the ambient temperature is above 90°F (32°C), the limit is 1 hour.

The 'Danger Zone' for bacterial growth is between 40°F (4°C) and 140°F (60°C).

Cool cooked curry rapidly before refrigerating or freezing. Divide large amounts into shallow containers to help it cool faster and move it to the refrigerator as soon as it stops steaming.
