Cooked dry peas should be refrigerated promptly and not stored at room temperature.
Refrigerator
3-4 days
Store cooked dry peas in shallow, airtight containers to ensure rapid cooling and even temperature. Place in the coldest part of the refrigerator.
Freezer
10-12 months
Freeze cooked dry peas in airtight freezer bags or containers. Remove as much air as possible to prevent freezer burn. Label with the date of freezing.
Signs of Spoilage
- Sour or off odor
- Slimy texture
- Visible mold growth
- Discoloration
Room Temperature Safety
40°F–140°F
Do not leave cooked dry peas at room temperature for more than 2 hours. If the ambient temperature is above 90°F (32°C), discard after 1 hour.
Safe Handling
Refrigerate cooked dry peas within 2 hours of cooking. If the ambient temperature is above 90°F (32°C), refrigerate within 1 hour.
Reheat cooked dry peas to an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
Avoid cross-contamination by using separate cutting boards and utensils for raw and cooked foods.
