Cooked ground turkey should not be stored at room temperature for extended periods due to rapid bacterial growth.
Refrigerator
3-4 days
Refrigerate cooked ground turkey in shallow, covered containers within 2 hours of cooking. Store at 40°F (4°C) or below.
Freezer
3-4 months
For best quality, freeze cooked ground turkey in airtight containers or heavy-duty freezer bags. Label with the date.
Signs of Spoilage
- Sour or off-odor
- Slimy or sticky texture
- Mold growth
- Discoloration (e.g., gray or green patches)
Room Temperature Safety
The danger zone for food is between 40°F (4°C) and 140°F (60°C), where bacteria can multiply rapidly.
Promptly refrigerate or freeze cooked ground turkey to prevent bacterial growth. Discard any food left in the danger zone for too long.
Safe Handling
Cook ground turkey to an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) as measured with a food thermometer.
Refrigerate or freeze cooked ground turkey within 2 hours of cooking. If the ambient temperature is above 90°F (32°C), refrigerate or freeze within 1 hour.
Prevent cross-contamination by using separate cutting boards and utensils for raw and cooked foods.
Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water before and after handling raw or cooked meat.
Reheat cooked ground turkey thoroughly to 165°F (74°C).
