Cooked salmon should not be stored at room temperature. Refrigerate promptly.
Refrigerator
3 to 4 days
Store cooked salmon in a shallow airtight container or wrapped tightly in plastic wrap or aluminum foil to prevent drying out and absorption of odors.
Freezer
2 to 6 months
Wrap cooked salmon tightly in heavy-duty aluminum foil or freezer wrap, or place in heavy-duty freezer bags or airtight containers to prevent freezer burn.
Signs of Spoilage
- Sour or off odor
- Slimy or sticky texture
- Dull or faded color
- Mold growth
Room Temperature Safety
The 'Danger Zone' for food is between 40°F (4°C) and 140°F (60°C), where bacteria can multiply rapidly.
Promptly refrigerate cooked salmon within 2 hours of cooking or removal from heat. Discard any cooked salmon left in the danger zone for too long.
Safe Handling
Reheat cooked salmon to an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
Avoid cross-contamination by keeping cooked salmon separate from raw foods.
Wash hands, cutting boards, utensils, and countertops thoroughly after handling raw fish and before handling cooked fish.
Never leave cooked salmon at room temperature for more than 2 hours (1 hour if the temperature is above 90°F/32°C).
