Raw sausage must be refrigerated or frozen immediately. Do not store at room temperature.

Refrigerator

1-2 days

Store raw country sausage in its original packaging or in a sealed container on the lowest shelf of the refrigerator to prevent juices from dripping onto other foods.

Freezer

1-2 months

For best quality, wrap raw country sausage tightly in heavy-duty aluminum foil, plastic wrap, or place in freezer bags. Thaw in the refrigerator.

Signs of Spoilage

  • Sour or off-odor
  • Slimy or sticky texture
  • Dull or discolored appearance (e.g., greenish or grayish tinge)

Room Temperature Safety

Perishable foods, including raw country sausage, should not be left at room temperature for more than 2 hours. If the ambient temperature is above 90°F (32°C), the limit is 1 hour.

The 'Danger Zone' for bacterial growth is between 40°F (4.4°C) and 140°F (60°C).

Always refrigerate or freeze raw country sausage promptly. Discard any raw sausage left in the danger zone for longer than the recommended time limits.
