Deli meat must be kept refrigerated to prevent bacterial growth.

Refrigerator

3-5 days

Store in a tightly sealed container or original packaging in the coldest part of the refrigerator. Consume within 3-5 days after opening.

Freezer

1-2 months

For best quality, wrap deli meat tightly in freezer paper or heavy-duty aluminum foil, or place in a heavy-duty freezer bag. Label with the date.

Signs of Spoilage

  • Sour or off-odor
  • Slimy or sticky texture
  • Discoloration (e.g., green or gray spots)
  • Presence of mold

Room Temperature Safety

Perishable foods, including deli meat, should not be left at room temperature for more than 2 hours. If the ambient temperature is above 90°F (32°C), the limit is 1 hour.

The 'Danger Zone' for bacterial growth is between 40°F (4°C) and 140°F (60°C).

Promptly refrigerate or discard deli meat that has been left out at room temperature beyond the recommended time limits.
