Room Temperature Safety

Unrehydrated dried shrimp is shelf-stable. However, once rehydrated or incorporated into a dish, it becomes perishable and must adhere to the 2-hour rule. Discard if left out longer.
Safe Handling
Keep dried shrimp separate from ready-to-eat foods to prevent cross-contamination.
If rehydrating, use clean, cold water and handle rehydrated shrimp like fresh seafood, ensuring proper refrigeration.
Ensure any dishes containing dried shrimp are cooked to appropriate internal temperatures.
Always wash hands thoroughly before and after handling.
