Store dry, uncooked pasta in its original packaging or an airtight container in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture.
Refrigerator
3-4 days
Once cooked, cool pasta quickly and store in shallow, airtight containers in the refrigerator.
Freezer
1-2 months
Cooked pasta should be cooled completely before freezing. Store in airtight containers or heavy-duty freezer bags.
Signs of Spoilage
- Sour or off-odor
- Slimy or sticky texture (for cooked pasta)
- Visible mold
- Discoloration
Room Temperature Safety
40°F–140°F (4°C–60°C)
Cooked pasta, like other perishable foods, should not be left at room temperature (between 40°F and 140°F) for more than 2 hours. If the ambient temperature is above 90°F (32°C), this time reduces to 1 hour. Promptly refrigerate or discard any cooked pasta left out beyond these limits.
Safe Handling
Cook pasta to desired doneness according to package instructions.
Refrigerate cooked pasta promptly within 2 hours of cooking.
Reheat cooked pasta to an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
