Signs of Spoilage
- Soft spots or mushy texture
- Mold growth (white, green, or black fuzzy spots)
- Discoloration or dullness of the skin
- Off-odor or fermented smell
- Shriveled or dried-out skin
Room Temperature Safety
40°F–140°F
Whole, uncut tangerines can be stored at room temperature for up to 1 week. Once cut, tangerines become a perishable food and should not be left at room temperature for more than 2 hours. If the ambient temperature is above 90°F (32°C), refrigerate or discard within 1 hour.
Safe Handling
Wash tangerines thoroughly under running water before eating or preparing, even if peeling them.
Avoid cross-contamination by keeping fresh produce separate from raw meat, poultry, and seafood.
Discard any tangerines that show signs of spoilage.
