Frozen fruit must be stored at 0°F (-18°C) or below to maintain quality and safety. Pantry storage is not suitable.
Refrigerator
3-4 days (after thawing)
Thaw frozen fruit in the refrigerator. Once thawed, use within 3-4 days. Do not refreeze thawed fruit.
Freezer
8-12 months (for best quality, safe indefinitely at 0°F)
Store at 0°F (-18°C) or below in airtight containers or freezer bags to prevent freezer burn. While safe indefinitely, quality is best within 8-12 months.
Signs of Spoilage
- Mold growth
- Off-odor (sour or fermented smell)
- Excessive sliminess or stickiness
- Unusual discoloration
- Fermentation (indicated by bubbling or a yeasty smell)
Room Temperature Safety
40°F–140°F (4°C–60°C)
Do not leave thawed fruit at room temperature for more than 2 hours (or 1 hour if the temperature is above 90°F/32°C). Discard any fruit left in the danger zone for too long.
Safe Handling
Thaw frozen fruit in the refrigerator, under cold running water, or in the microwave. Never thaw at room temperature.
Once thawed, use the fruit promptly within 3-4 days.
Do not refreeze fruit that has been thawed, as this can affect quality and safety.
Wash hands thoroughly before and after handling food.
