Freezer

8-12 months

  • Mold growth
  • Off-odor (sour, fermented, or alcoholic smell)
  • Slimy or mushy texture (beyond normal thawing softness)
  • Significant discoloration or darkening

Expert Tips

Safe Handling

1

Always thaw frozen fruit in the refrigerator, in cold water (changing water every 30 minutes), or in the microwave. Never thaw at room temperature.

2

Do not refreeze fruit once it has been thawed, as this can affect quality and safety.

3

Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water before and after handling frozen fruit.

4

If using in smoothies or cooked dishes, thawing may not be necessary.
