Due to perishable ingredients like fruit and often butter/eggs in the topping, fruit cobbler should not be stored at room temperature for more than 2 hours.
Refrigerator
3-4 days
Cover loosely with plastic wrap or aluminum foil to prevent drying out. Store in the coldest part of the refrigerator.
Freezer
6-8 months
Wrap tightly in plastic wrap and then in heavy-duty aluminum foil, or place in a freezer-safe bag or container. Thaw in the refrigerator before reheating.
Signs of Spoilage
- Mold growth
- Sour, yeasty, or unpleasant off-odor
- Slimy or sticky texture
- Unusual discoloration
Room Temperature Safety
The 'Danger Zone' for bacterial growth is between 40°F (4°C) and 140°F (60°C).
Promptly refrigerate or freeze fruit cobbler after serving. Discard any cobbler left at room temperature for longer than the recommended time.
Safe Handling
Reheat leftover fruit cobbler to an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) for safety.
Avoid cross-contamination by using clean utensils and surfaces.
Do not leave fruit cobbler at room temperature for more than 2 hours (1 hour if the temperature is above 90°F / 32°C).
