Store unpeeled in a cool, dry, dark place. For best quality and longer storage, refrigeration is recommended.

Refrigerator

2-3 weeks

Store unpeeled in a paper bag or wrapped in a paper towel, then placed in a plastic bag or airtight container in the crisper drawer. Do not wash until ready to use.

Freezer

3-6 months

Store unpeeled, tightly wrapped in plastic wrap or in an airtight freezer bag. It can also be peeled, sliced, or grated and then frozen.

Signs of Spoilage

  • Soft or mushy texture
  • Mold growth (fuzzy spots, discoloration)
  • Strong, unpleasant, or sour odor
  • Significant discoloration or darkening

Room Temperature Safety

Perishable foods should not be left at room temperature for more than 2 hours. If the ambient temperature is above 90°F (32°C), the limit is 1 hour.

The 'Danger Zone' for bacterial growth is between 40°F (4°C) and 140°F (60°C).
