Room Temperature Safety
The 'Danger Zone' for food is between 40°F (4°C) and 140°F (60°C), where bacteria can multiply rapidly.
Whole, uncut grapefruit can be stored at room temperature for up to 1 week. Once cut, grapefruit becomes a perishable food and must be refrigerated within 2 hours to prevent bacterial growth.
Safe Handling
Wash whole grapefruit thoroughly under running water before peeling or cutting, even if you don't eat the peel.
Use clean cutting boards, utensils, and hands to prevent cross-contamination.
Refrigerate cut grapefruit promptly in an airtight container.
