Pantry
Not RecommendedNot recommended for extended storage
Store in a cool, dry place for very short periods if immediate refrigeration is not possible, but refrigeration is highly recommended for safety and quality.
Refrigerator
3-5 days
Store unwashed fresh green beans in a plastic bag or container in the crisper drawer of the refrigerator.
Freezer
10-12 months
For best quality, blanch green beans before freezing. Wash, trim, and blanch in boiling water for 3 minutes, then cool quickly in ice water. Drain thoroughly, pack into freezer bags or containers, removing as much air as possible.
Signs of Spoilage
- Slimy or mushy texture
- Mold growth
- Off-odor
- Discoloration (yellowing or browning)
Room Temperature Safety
40°F–140°F
Do not leave fresh green beans at room temperature for more than 2 hours. If the ambient temperature is above 90°F (32°C), discard after 1 hour.
Safe Handling
Wash fresh green beans thoroughly under running water before preparing or eating.
Prevent cross-contamination by keeping fresh produce separate from raw meat, poultry, and seafood.
Discard any green beans that show signs of spoilage.
