Store at room temperature on the counter away from direct sunlight. Do not refrigerate unripe mangoes as it can inhibit ripening and affect flavor and texture.

Refrigerator

5-7 days (once ripe)

Refrigerate ripe, whole mangoes in a plastic bag or crisper drawer. For cut mangoes, store in an airtight container.

Freezer

10-12 months (cut)

Peel, pit, and cut ripe mango into slices or cubes. Freeze in a single layer on a baking sheet until solid, then transfer to airtight freezer bags or containers, removing as much air as possible.

Signs of Spoilage

  • Soft spots or mushy texture
  • Mold growth (fuzzy white, green, or black spots)
  • Sour or fermented odor
  • Discoloration beyond normal ripening changes
  • Leaking or weeping

Room Temperature Safety

Whole, unripe mangoes are safe at room temperature until ripe. Once cut, follow the 2-hour rule (1 hour above 90°F/32°C).
