Frozen peas should be stored continuously in the freezer to maintain quality and safety. Pantry storage is not suitable.
Refrigerator
3-4 days (after thawing)
Thaw frozen peas in the refrigerator. Once thawed, use within 3-4 days. Do not refreeze thawed peas.
Freezer
8 months
Keep frozen peas at 0°F (-18°C) or below. Store in original airtight packaging or a freezer-safe bag to prevent freezer burn and maintain quality.
Signs of Spoilage
- Heavy frost or ice crystals (indicating freezer burn or improper storage)
- Dull color
- Shriveled appearance
- Off-odor (after thawing)
- Slimy texture (after thawing)
Room Temperature Safety
40°F–140°F (4°C–60°C)
Do not leave frozen peas at room temperature for more than 2 hours (or 1 hour if the temperature is above 90°F/32°C). Thaw in the refrigerator, cold water, or microwave.
Safe Handling
Keep frozen until ready to use.
Do not refreeze thawed vegetables.
Cook frozen peas thoroughly before consumption, unless otherwise specified on packaging for raw consumption.
Wash hands with soap and water before and after handling food.
