Store unripe guavas at room temperature to ripen. Once ripe, consume or refrigerate promptly.

Store ripe guavas in a plastic bag or airtight container in the refrigerator's crisper drawer.

Freezer

10-12 months

Wash, peel (optional), and slice guavas. Pack in airtight freezer bags or containers. Can be frozen whole or as a puree.

Signs of Spoilage

  • Mold growth on the skin
  • Off-odor, possibly fermented or sour

Room Temperature Safety

The 2-hour rule applies: perishable foods should not be left at room temperature for more than 2 hours. If the temperature is above 90°F (32°C), the limit is 1 hour.

The 'Danger Zone' for bacterial growth is between 40°F (4°C) and 140°F (60°C).

Ripe guavas should be refrigerated within 2 hours of being at room temperature to prevent bacterial growth and spoilage.
