Honeyberries are highly perishable. For best quality and safety, refrigerate promptly. If left at room temperature, consume within 2 hours.
Refrigerator
1-2 days
Store unwashed honeyberries in a single layer in a shallow container lined with a paper towel. Cover loosely and refrigerate. Wash gently just before eating.
Freezer
8-12 months for best quality, safe indefinitely
Wash and thoroughly dry honeyberries. Spread them in a single layer on a baking sheet and freeze until solid. Transfer to freezer bags or airtight containers, removing as much air as possible. Label with the date.
Signs of Spoilage
- Mold growth (fuzzy white or colored spots)
- Soft, mushy, or shriveled texture
- Sour or fermented odor
- Discoloration or darkening
Room Temperature Safety
40°F–140°F
Perishable foods, including fresh honeyberries, should not be left at room temperature (between 40°F and 140°F) for more than 2 hours. If the ambient temperature is above 90°F (32°C), food should not be left out for more than 1 hour.
Safe Handling
Wash honeyberries gently under cool running water just before consumption.
Avoid washing berries until ready to eat to prevent premature spoilage.
Keep honeyberries refrigerated at 40°F (4°C) or below.
Prevent cross-contamination by keeping fresh produce separate from raw meats, poultry, and seafood.
