Store whole, uncut honeydew melon at room temperature until ripe. Once ripe, refrigerate.
Refrigerator

Store whole, ripe honeydew melon in the refrigerator. Store cut honeydew melon in a clean, airtight container.
Freezer
10-12 months (cut pieces)
Cut honeydew melon into cubes, remove seeds, and pack in airtight containers or freezer bags. Freeze at 0°F (-18°C) or below.
Signs of Spoilage
- Soft spots or mushy texture
- Mold growth (fuzzy white, green, or black spots)
- Sour, fermented, or off-odor
- Slimy or sticky surface
- Discoloration or dull appearance
Room Temperature Safety
The 'Danger Zone' for bacterial growth is between 40°F (4°C) and 140°F (60°C).
Promptly refrigerate cut honeydew melon to prevent bacterial growth. Whole, uncut honeydew can be stored at room temperature until ripe, then moved to the refrigerator.
Safe Handling
Wash the outside of the honeydew melon thoroughly under running water before cutting to prevent transferring bacteria from the rind to the flesh.
Refrigerate cut honeydew melon within 2 hours (1 hour if ambient temperature is above 90°F/32°C).
Avoid cross-contamination by using separate cutting boards and utensils for produce and raw meats.
