Unopened, shelf-stable: Follow 'Best By' date; Opened: Not recommended
Store unopened, shelf-stable juice in a cool, dark place. Once opened, all juice must be refrigerated promptly.
Refrigerator
Opened, pasteurized: 7-10 days; Unopened, pasteurized (refrigerated type): Follow 'Use By' date; Unpasteurized: 5-7 days
Always refrigerate juice promptly after opening. Store in a tightly sealed container to prevent absorption of odors and maintain freshness.
Freezer
8-12 months
Freeze juice in airtight containers, leaving headspace for expansion. Can be frozen in ice cube trays for smaller portions.
Signs of Spoilage
- Sour or off-odor
- Cloudy appearance (for clear juices)
- Fermentation (bubbly appearance, alcoholic smell)
- Mold growth
- Swollen or bulging container (for unopened juice, indicates spoilage)
Room Temperature Safety
The 'Danger Zone' for bacterial growth is between 40°F (4°C) and 140°F (60°C).
To prevent bacterial growth, always refrigerate juice promptly after opening and avoid leaving it out. If juice has been in the danger zone for too long, discard it.
Safe Handling
Always refrigerate juice after opening.
Do not consume unpasteurized juice if you are pregnant, very young, elderly, or have a weakened immune system, as it may contain harmful bacteria.
Wash hands thoroughly before and after handling juice containers.
Discard any juice that has been left at room temperature for more than 2 hours (1 hour if temperature is above 90°F/32°C).
