Pantry
Until 'best by' date (unopened)
Store unopened bottles in a cool, dark pantry away from direct sunlight and heat.
Refrigerator
3 months (opened)
Refrigerate promptly after opening. Keep the bottle tightly sealed to maintain freshness and prevent contamination.
Freezer
Not RecommendedNot recommended
Freezing is not recommended for most salad dressings, especially oil-based or emulsion-based ones, as it can cause separation and changes in texture and quality upon thawing.
Signs of Spoilage
- Off-odor, such as a sour or rancid smell
- Visible mold growth
- Significant discoloration or darkening
- Unusual separation of ingredients beyond normal oil separation
- Fuzzy or slimy texture
Room Temperature Safety
The 'Danger Zone' for bacterial growth is between 40°F (4°C) and 140°F (60°C). Foods left in this temperature range for too long can become unsafe to eat.
To ensure safety, always refrigerate Mediterranean dressing promptly after use. Discard any dressing that has been left out within the danger zone for longer than the recommended time limits.
Safe Handling
Always refrigerate commercially bottled Mediterranean dressing immediately after opening.
Do not consume dressing that has been left at room temperature for more than 2 hours (or 1 hour if the temperature is above 90°F/32°C).
Always check the 'best by' or 'use by' date on the packaging for unopened dressing.
