Fresh mint leaves are highly perishable and best stored in the refrigerator. If immediate refrigeration is not possible, keep in a cool, dry place for no more than 1-2 days.

Refrigerator

7-10 days

Wrap unwashed mint leaves loosely in a damp paper towel and place in a plastic bag or airtight container. Store in the crisper drawer of the refrigerator.

Freezer

Wash and thoroughly pat dry mint leaves. You can freeze whole leaves in an airtight freezer bag, or chop and freeze in ice cube trays with water or oil. Label with the date.

  • Darkening or black spots on leaves
  • Slimy or mushy texture

40°F–140°F (4°C–60°C)

Fresh mint leaves should not be left at room temperature for more than 2 hours. If left out longer, especially in temperatures within the danger zone, discard them to prevent bacterial growth.
