Room Temperature Safety

Follow the 2-hour rule: Do not leave perishable food at room temperature for more than 2 hours. If the ambient temperature is above 90°F (32°C), reduce this time to 1 hour.

The 'Danger Zone' for bacterial growth is between 40°F (4°C) and 140°F (60°C).

Fresh mulukhiyah leaves will wilt and degrade quickly if left at room temperature. Cooked mulukhiyah dishes should be refrigerated promptly to prevent bacterial growth.

Expert Tips

Safe Handling

1

Wash fresh mulukhiyah leaves thoroughly under cool running water before use to remove dirt and debris.

2

Avoid cross-contamination by keeping raw mulukhiyah separate from ready-to-eat foods.

3

If preparing a cooked mulukhiyah dish, ensure it is heated to an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) if it contains meat or poultry.

4

Refrigerate cooked mulukhiyah dishes within 2 hours of cooking. Divide large amounts into shallow containers for quicker cooling.
