Room Temperature Safety
The 'Danger Zone' for bacterial growth is between 40°F (4°C) and 140°F (60°C).
Passion fruit can be left at room temperature for 2-3 days to ripen. Once ripe, or if not intended for immediate consumption, it should be refrigerated to slow spoilage and prevent bacterial growth.
Safe Handling
Wash passion fruit thoroughly under cool running water before cutting or eating.
Avoid cross-contamination by using separate cutting boards and utensils for produce and raw meats.
Ripe passion fruit will have wrinkled skin and feel heavy for its size.
