2-3 days (for ripening)

Store unripe peaches at room temperature (65-70°F) until soft and fragrant. Once ripe, consume or refrigerate.

Refrigerator

3-5 days

Store ripe peaches unwashed in a plastic bag in the refrigerator crisper drawer. Wash just before eating.

Freezer

10-12 months

Wash, peel, pit, and slice peaches. Pack in freezer bags or airtight containers, leaving headspace. Can be packed in syrup or dry.

Signs of Spoilage

  • Soft spots or mushy texture
  • Mold growth (fuzzy white, green, or black spots)
  • Off-odor or fermented smell
  • Significant discoloration beyond normal ripening

Room Temperature Safety

Cut peaches should not be left at room temperature for more than 2 hours (1 hour if temperature is above 90°F/32°C).

Whole, unripe peaches can be ripened at room temperature. Once ripe or cut, refrigerate promptly to prevent bacterial growth.
